Intranet for the College of Law at Georgia State University

College of Law @ GSU

I developed the web services for the College of Law at Georgia State University for more than ten years. In my last year and a half there, I launched a totally new Intranet in WordPress called “InsideLaw” (much of it is behind password).

We use BuddyPress for individual group pages for every class. We have room reservation and event calendar systems, as well as custom content types for various information needs, such as faculty meeting minutes archive and the externships program participating site list. The College collects many types of information, such as class evaluations and pro bono volunteer hours tracking. The Intranet also contains an email newsletter system that targets student sub-groups and faculty/staff groups.

Most of the system is “off the shelf” to keep the system easy to maintain and expand. I wrote about a thousand lines of code to perform all of the automated data import tasks and various special features. Editors have granular control to post and update their information. The documentation site is open and basically untouched from when I left the College of Law to take a summer internship.
